" Variety of Food in Ramadan : The Delicious Traditions of Sehri and Iftar "
In the month of Ramadan, food becomes a strange entity in our lives. We enjoy a huge variety of delicious foods at the two peak times, Sehri and Iftar. Sehri generally consists of healthy and strength-providing foods such as eggs, milk, yogurt, fruits, and bread.
In Iftar, especially, foods such as dates, fruits, jalebi, pilaf, and sweets are commonly utilized. Yet the food may vary from country to country, like in Bangladesh, where dishes such as beguni, piyaju, and shik kebab are popular. Ramadan food not only strengthens the body but also gives spiritual fulfillment. Taking food together is a symbol of unity and brotherhood of the Muslim ummah. "Haleem," "Ruti-Mangs" (bread and meat), and "Shahi Tikia" are a few of the Bangladeshi specialties. Ramadan food brings freshness to the body and peace to the mind.
